This home was founded in October 2002 by Arjun Dhakal due to a desperate need of the children of Kathmandu. At the time, he was a college student and started the Gentle Heat Children's Home (GHCH) without a sponsor. Nonetheless, he did what he could to make it work and continues to volunteer to help these children. Due to his tireless commitment and dedication to these orphaned children, Developing Opportunity has agreed to assist with paying for their education.
As Arjun said, “I have passion for the needy, destitute and orphaned children. I can understand the real feelings of such children because we also lost our mother in our early age. We aim to help the helpless, care for the careless, love the abandoned, and provide a home for the homeless.”
Due to financial constraints, Arjun is only able only to take care of 9 children in a cramped, rented flat. The GHCH is currently home children from ages 1 years to 14 years; 3 girls and 6 boys. There are many other children who don’t live there but also need educational support that Arjun and Devleoping Opportunity are helping. At a cost of $900 per year/per child, we desperately need your help to keep the children of Nepal off the streets and into school. |
